Installation and disassembly of rolling bearings

Rolling bearings are components that support the rotation of a shaft. The ferrules and rolling elements are precision processed. Before the bearing leaves the factory, in order to protect the surface of the raceways and rolling elements from corrosion, anti-rust oil or anti-rust grease is injected between the raceways and the rolling elements. Bearings with dust caps or sealing rings on both sides are filled with grease before leaving the factory, so there is no need to clean them during installation. Bearings coated with dual-purpose grease for lubrication and rust prevention do not need to be cleaned during installation. During the cleaning and installation process, foreign objects should be strictly prevented from falling into the bearing. Small abrasive particles will cause wear between the rolling elements and the raceway, increasing noise and vibration.
1. Installation  
Usually, radial bearings with inseparable inner and outer rings, the inner ring and the shaft often use a tighter fit; the outer ring and the seat hole use a looser fit. At this time, pressure can be used to press-fit the bearing on the shaft first, and then the bearing and the shaft can be fitted into the bearing housing hole. The assembly sleeve used during press-fitting is made of soft metal, such as copper or mild steel. The inner diameter of the sleeve is slightly larger than the shaft diameter, and the outer diameter is slightly smaller than the bearing inner ring rib. When the bearing must be installed on the shaft and in the seat hole at the same time, add a pressure plate between the sleeve and the end face of the bearing. The bore diameter is slightly larger than the shaft diameter, and the outside diameter is slightly smaller than the bearing outside diameter. Its function is to prevent the outer ring of the bearing from flexing or jamming in the seat hole. The pressure exerted on the sleeve can be mechanical or hydraulic. But never directly hammer the end face of the ferrule. Because the ferrule is a hardened thin-walled part, hammering is prone to surface cracks.
2. Heating installation 
The force required to install the interference ring is related to the size of the bearing and the amount of matching interference. For medium and large bearings with large interference, heating installation is often used. Before hot assembly, put the bearing into the oil tank and heat it evenly to 80℃~100℃, then remove it from the oil and install it on the shaft. The bearing should not be placed at the bottom of the box during heating to prevent precipitation of impurities from entering the bearing. And the oil temperature should be strictly controlled not to exceed 100℃. According to the batch size of the bearing, other electric heating methods can be used, such as induction heaters, electric heating plates and electric furnaces.
3. Disassembly
When disassembling an inseparable bearing whose inner ring fits tightly with the shaft and the outer ring fits loosely with the seat hole, first take the shaft and the bearing out of the bearing seat hole, and then remove the bearing from the shaft. When disassembling the separable bearing with inner and outer rings, first remove the shaft together with the inner ring, and then remove the inner ring from the shaft; remove the outer ring from the bearing seat hole. The bearing can be removed from the shaft or the inner ring of the bearing can be removed from the shaft using a press. Screw mechanism can also be used. When the outer ring fits tightly in the seat hole, a pressure mechanism can be used to press out the outer ring.
