Sony has launched a new professional camcorder made for documentary filmmakers. The device is called the PXW-Z200 and it brings high-end features into a compact body. It records in 4K resolution and supports slow-motion capture at up to 120 frames per second. This gives creators more flexibility when shooting fast-moving scenes or emotional moments.

The camcorder uses Sony’s latest image sensor and processing engine. These help deliver sharp images with accurate colors even in low light. It also includes built-in ND filters so users can control exposure without changing lenses. The design is lightweight and fits comfortably on the shoulder, which is important during long shoots.
Audio quality matters just as much as video for documentaries. That is why the PXW-Z200 has two XLR inputs and a microphone holder built into the handle. Users can plug in professional mics and monitor sound through a headphone jack. The camcorder also records audio in high-resolution formats.
Sony added wireless connectivity to make file sharing easier. Footage can be sent directly to the cloud or to an editor’s computer using Wi-Fi or Ethernet. This speeds up workflow and reduces time spent on data transfer. The battery lasts for several hours and can be swapped quickly in the field.

The camcorder runs on Sony’s familiar menu system. Many professionals already know how to use it, so there is no steep learning curve. It also works with existing accessories like mounts and external recorders. Sony says the PXW-Z200 will be available next month through authorized dealers. Pricing starts at $5,999.
